Why Polynesian Tattoos?

Whether it be for reasons of heritage or a simple appreciation of the culture, Polynesian tattoos are very popular. Because the early Polynesians were seafaring individuals whose navigational skills were very advanced, an image of the sea and/or islands is a very popular image for those who desire a permanent visual of this ancient culture.

Polynesian navigators were once said to be guided by both the sun and the stars, making either of these two images an ideal choice for Polynesian tattoos.
